Tax advice and support for international companies operating in Germany
If you have decided on Germany and in particular Berlin as a new or additional location for your company, then you can benefit from our many years of experience in providing tax advice and support focused primarily on German subsidiaries of international companies.
This is what we do for you:
To ensure that your planned start-up does not fail due to lack of familiarity with German tax law, we will advise and support you in all tax questions that arise during the start-up phase, right from the first step of setting up your company in Germany.
It begins with offering advice as early as in the search for the most tax-efficient legal form for you in Germany. Once you have found this, we will see to all the necessary registrations of your company in the start-up phase that are required if your company is to be properly classified for tax purposes in Germany.
These include applying to the tax office/revenue authority for the issuance of a German tax reference number, applying to the Federal Central Office for Taxes for the issuance of a German VAT ID/sales tax number, applying to the health insurers for the timely registration and payroll accounting of your workers, etc., and coordinating all the associated work.
We will commit ourselves to working for you so that you do not have to spend your valuable time handling and/or monitoring the many different tax processes that are required in Germany.
We will prepare the monthly accounts, the preliminary VAT/sales tax returns and the payroll accounts, including all applications to the tax office/revenue authority and health insurers. We will file the necessary monthly reports with the tax office/revenue authority and health insurers by entirely electronic means and will then inform you accordingly.
At the end of the financial/fiscal year we will prepare the necessary annual statutory accounts/financial statements (balance sheet, income statement and notes) as well as the various tax returns and submit these (again electronically) to the tax office/revenue authority. The same applies for the depositing and publication of your annual statutory accounts/financial statements with the German Federal Gazette (Bundesanzeiger).
If you want to be on the safe side right from the start, you are welcome to grant us authority to receive documents and to represent you in dealings with the tax office/revenue authority. We will then receive all correspondence from the tax office/revenue authority, the health insurer and the employers’ liability insurance association on your behalf and can recommend immediately how to respond, where appropriate. It goes without saying that all correspondence we receive from the tax office/revenue authority will be forwarded to you. You will also be copied in to all letters and emails that we send to the tax office/revenue authority on your behalf so that you are always kept fully up to date.
If you need specific monthly results for your business activities, we will also prepare individual reports to suit your requirements. These include reports to the parent company and, where appropriate, inclusion in the consolidated accounts within the group. We can also help when it comes to calculating particular key ratios.
We will be guided by your needs when it comes to deadlines, too. In other words, if you need an analysis by a particular fixed date, we will make sure we allow time for this in our procedures.
Even if your company has been tax registered in Germany for some time and business operations are already up and running, it sometimes turns out in practice that the help of a tax adviser/preparer is needed anyway.
- Here too, we can offer reliable and tailored assistance to ensure you can continue to concentrate on your core business:
- with individual tax advice on specific problems;
- with the fast and uncomplicated assumption of ongoing accounting services and all other current tax obligations, even within the financial/fiscal year;
- with the accounting and tax processing of prior years if it has not yet been possible to complete these;
- with help if problems occur with the tax office/revenue authority.
We are happy to communicate with you in English, both in writing and verbally, because every one of our staff speaks English.
Correspondence by email has proved to be the simplest method of communication, particularly when it comes to bridging time differences of several hours, whether to the USA or to Australia.
All the analyses, reports and, where appropriate, opinions that you need can also be sent to you in English on the desired date.
Should it be necessary to discuss certain problems and issues in person, a video conference can be set up easily and at short notice at any time.
Our central location by Berlin-Friedrichstraße railway station means you can reach us quickly and easily by TXL bus from Tegel airport, the regional express from Berlin-Schönefeld airport or train from Berlin’s main railway station. Where necessary, we are also happy to hold a weekend meeting by prior arrangement.
